La via romana

Empedrat Via Romana

Les referències més velles d’investigacions fetes d’aquesta via daten del segle XVII. Segons aquestes, es tracta d’una via romana secundària important que cobreix el trajecte Iuncaria – Besalú – Vall de Bianya – Coll d’Ares.

El tram comprès entre els Hostalets de Sant Salvador i la cruïlla de la via amb l’antiga carretera de Capsacosta, poc abans d’entrar a Sant Pau de Segúries, pot considerar-se per les obres d’enginyeria fetes en ell i el seu estat de conservació, únic a Catalunya, només comparable amb la via que unia la Via Augusta amb la de la costa pel coll de Parpers i Mataró.

El primer tram del Capsacosta és el comprès entre els Hostalets de Sant Salvador i el cim de la carena. És sens dubte, el més espectacular i en el que es pot apreciar millor la tècnica de construcció de vies romanes.
